What does it cost when your best becomes the baseline?

There's a quiet shift that follows sustained success. What was once remarkable becomes the standard against which everything next is measured.

The people around us aren't ungrateful — their confidence is built on years of watching us deliver. But the preparation, the doubt, the discipline that sustains it all become invisible.

Does anyone else feel the cost of this invisibility? How do you keep the effort honest when no one is asking you to?

A small practice: I review one decision each week not for whether it was right, but for whether I made it with the same care I would have when it still felt remarkable. It's a private check against erosion.

I've made peace with the invisibility being the price of the trust. What I won't make peace with is letting the standard slip because no one would notice. That's where my own integrity has to hold the line.
